Is the treatment safe?
BOTOX®: In high concentration, botulinum toxin is a potent poison. However, used in minute doses as it is in cosmetic treatments, it has a very high margin . of safety.
FILLERS: Since its launch in 1996, Restylane has been used safely in over 2 million treatments, in more than 70 countries worldwide- so you can be reassured that it has a proven safety track record.
Who will be carrying out the procedures?
Dr Osman who is a qualified GP, will be carrying out the treatments herself
for all patients.
Will I notice the effects straight away?
BOTOX®: No. The treatment normally starts to take effect after 1 week, but this
may vary slightly amongst individuals. The full effect will be apparent after 2 weeks of treatment.
FILLERS: Yes, the effects will be immediately apparent. In skilled hands you can see an immediate improvement in the depth and severity of lines as they are literally “filled” using this procedure.
Will it hurt?
BOTOX®: An extremely fine, short needle is used to inject the botox into the appropriate area. This may cause some slight, but brief discomfort / stinging sensation.
FILLERS:Some local anaesthetic cream will be rubbed onto the areas to be treated prior to the procedure, to minimize any discomfort experienced. For lip treatments, some local anaesthetic will be injected into the mouth to produce complete numbness of the lips for the duration of the procedure.
What are the side effects?
BOTOX®: Side effects of this treatment are rare. Occasionally mild bruising can occur, but this will resolve after a few days. Rarely a temporary drooping of the eyelid can occur. This may last a few weeks but will always resolve with special eye drops. This is however extremely rare.
FILLERS: Some mild swelling of the treated area is common but this usually resolves after a few days. Rarely bruising may occur.
Are the treatments reversible or permanent?
None of the treatments are permanent
BOTOX®: The effects normally last between 3 to 4 months.
FILLERS: The treatment usually lasts between 6 to 12 months but varies between individuals. For lips, a follow up treatment is usually needed after about 6 months.
